Well, here it is the release of the Hot Chocolate classic "Emma" from the current Marschmellows album, "Rebound." Following Marschmellows success with their club hit in England last summer with the single "Soulpower" (featuring Verona Davis from the Stereo MC's), they would now like to take the rest of the continent by storm.
Karl Frierson (among other things the singer from DePhazz,) contributes the vocals on "Emma." Whoever can still remember the original version or has the record on the shelf should definitely compare both recordings in order to get a sense for the respectful quality of the new vocal interpretation. The music was completely redone twice for the new single release. The first mix, from the Marschmellows, transposes/replaces the original sounds with phat electro beats and a healthy portion of B-Boy quality. The remix from Ian Pooley provides a tasteful house adaptation with a jazzy attitude.
